[ Maya's not... entirely sure she should be doing this, but Ibuki was pretty upset about the whole debacle and... well. Maya's still not too keen on Rohan making murder plans for Dandy blatantly on...line. Did it count as online? Maya's going with online. Anyway, with her distractions aside she approaches Rohan in his office when he's already in it at some point, knocking gently on the door but not waiting to open it.]

Hey-- Rohan? Are you busy?

[ Just as he had been when he called Ibuki, Rohan is working on a long winter coat settled on a mannequin. He isn't expecting Maya, but he doesn't look up. ]

Not really. What did you need?

[ He is certainly a little POINTED at the moment though. It shows in his posture from where his shoulders are to where his elbows are bending. ]

[Maya steps in and closes the door behind her, looking back to make sure it's closed appropriately, and watches Rohan work. It's time to conduct a bit of an investigation.]

I was wondering... Um, a lot of stuff happened yesterday, didn't it? How are you feeling?

[ Stitch, stitch. ]

I'm living. [ Pause. ] I fired Ibuki.

Oh.

[Maya's brows raise.]

Wait-- why?

[ Rohan casts a moment's glance her way. ]

Because I wanted to be treated like an authority figure at work. She never shows up anyway. She works with Dandy and she'll still have food on the table. She doesn't need a job she doesn't do anything with.

I'm a businessman. Not a babysitter.

Uh-huh.

[Maya says finally, quietly-- an affirmation, not sarcasm. She purses her lips to one side and breathes, taking a minute to come up with a response.]

That's... fair.

Did you decide that yesterday as a boss... or as a friend?

Her boss.

[ He draws his thread out from the thick fabric, clipping it with his claws. ]

I don't have any problems with her as a friend. I just want to work on my image again. She can have me on Friendship Probation for as long as she pleases but it isn't any skin off of my back.

I want her to learn from everything I told her... Though I fear she will not.

[ Because Ibuki is as Ibuki does. He can't fix that. ]

[Maya nods, trying not to show how hypnotized she is by the way Rohan works. She's listening clearly, but other people's talents have always been so fascinating to her.]

...I guess that's fair, too.

[Ibuki's a teenager and it shows, and you can't expect everyone to deal with it.]

But... saying things like that publicly, and picking fights with people's friends... [Maya sighs lowly, breaking her concentration on what Rohan's doing to push her hair back over her shoulder. She's wearing it mostly loose today, but the baubles in her long bangs remain, and she plays with them.]

Don't you get why somebody would be mad about that?

Dandy is a shitheel and deserves everything that happens to him. I don't care who he is and isn't friends with. [ He was cordial like ONE TIME. ]

I understand why she is upset with me over that but I am tired of her thinking that I need to get along with HER friends when I have no interest in them. Lucas is alright. I don't mind him.

But do you see where I am coming from?

[Maya leans back against the door, still playing with her hair.]

But when you say stuff like that about Dandy-- not like, what you justsaid. I mean, about anybody she would be friends with.

[Frustrated with the way her train of thought turned, she substitutes it with--]

[ Rohan runs is hand through his hair like he has explained this a million times before. ]

You... I envy your ability to think the way you do. You are very kind and gentle. I admire it.

I apologize for my brashness. I know that not everyone will agree on the things I do or say. [ BUT ALSO. ] To be honest, everything with most of the men here has to be a dick-measuring contest.

[Maya looks mystified for all of the first part of what he says, and then-- and then he says that, and Maya has to cough into her sleeve to cover an unexpected laugh.]

...Well, I mean, he doesn't have to egg you on so much, either.

But you're both a lot better than you guys give each other credit for.

[She finally takes a few steps away from the door and toward Rohan.]

I think.. you're gentler than you give yourself credit for. You just don't think about it so much.

Whatever you say, Maya... [ He ACTS like he doesn't care when he cares a lot. ]
